After the testing was complete, the Neurologist came into the office with the results – he looked me squarely in the eyes. He said, “After all our testing and based on my 30 years of experience, I can confirm that you have Parkinson’s Disease.”  It just can’t be. Somewhere, somehow, has someone made an error?

But it wasnʼt an error.

It took me a long time, but I finally came around to the fact that the plans that I had for the future werenʼt going to be possible, and retirement and doing some “fun” thing had to be re-examined.

But over time, the reality came upon me differently when I adopted the attitude of, well …

“Why not me?”

God created us all equal, so that means I am no more special than anyone else; I’ve adopted that phrase and recall it as needed.

We would all do well to keep a watchful eye on our health and our time. These are two things that money canʼt buy. When life throws unexpected challenges at us, we can also reflect on the saying, ‘Why NOT me? ‘

I made heavy use of that phrase when I suffered a heart attack 9 months ago. Things have changed, and I have had to change with them. So far, things are working well, and with the help of the ADDvantage Casket Team, we are increasing our sales and maintaining a strong position in the marketplace. The phrase I referred to can (and should) also be used for the good things we receive.

If we do our part, things that we share control over seem so much easier to accept.
